The Good Patient by Alex Stone
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was blown away by this book. A twisty and totally engrossing, cleverly written psychological thriller, #TheGoodPatient has everything. The timelines are brilliant. Moving seamlessly between then and now, we follow Lauren’s story, empathising completely with her yearning to be accepted, to be someone worth loving, and how she came to be so lacking in self-belief. An aspect of the book looks at how love can inspire, but also how it can drive people to great acts of despair, possessiveness and coercion, even madness. There’s a beautiful blend of different cultures, and intrigue in bucketful’s. I loved Lauren’s story and every aspect of this book. The message – believe in yourself, believe that you are worth loving – is one we should all bear in mind: We can move on from those who, because of their own insecurities and inner demons, would damage us. The Good Patient from bestselling author Alex Stone is an emotional and gripping read that will stay with you and one I would highly recommend.
